Oops . . . Meant the M6 dink, not the M8.  I'm not sure why, but I'm under the impression Lyle designed the dink, too.

Kirk, The "Good Old Boat" statement is a mis-print.  Lyle Hess designed the hulls for both the M17 and the M23 (and, I believe, the M8 dink).  Jerry Montgomery designed the M15.  Jerry also designed the DECKS for the M15, M17 and original M23 (I don't know who designed the deck for the new M23 Offshore Cutter -- A Jerry M./Bob Eeg consultation?).  Lyle definitely designed the M17:  I believe he might even say as much in an interview.  --Craig, chonshell@ia4u.net

Hi,

I am curious who designed the M-17.  I had always been told that Lyle Hess was the designer of the Montgomery 17
Good old Boat magazine is now stating that Jerry Montgomery is claiming that he was the designer
and not Lyle Hess.  I have been told that the original drawings (blueprints) state that Lyle Hess is the designer of record on the M-17.
Possibly both participated in the design of the Montgomery 17.  Does anybody know who actually designed  the
Montgomery 17?

Thanks very much.
