You can check out the event at www.texas200.com . There is a lot of shallow water and one has to be careful of his navagation if outside the ICW. Covering 200 miles in 5 days doesn't leave much time to get out and tourist. The first night is an anchor out or pull up on a shell island for the beach cruisers and catamarans, the second at a yacht club and the 3rd and 4th are anchor outs. The course is from Port Mansfiedld to Port Lavaca. I have sailed the Gulf coast bays and an essential piece of equipment is a good camera with a selection of lenses. If you have crew to do the photography, there is abundant bird and wildlife to photograph. The fishing is great and there is no reason why one could not have a trolling rig out.
