Ahoy Thar! Just wanted to say welcome to the list. You stumbled on treasure here, I have to say this group is one of the most helpful bunch of sailors out there. They remind me of vintage VW Bug owners :) They love to share ideas and tips on every aspect of M boats, even the original builder "Jerry Montgomery" chimes in and provides answers. By the way, Jerry still makes replacement rigging for these boats, I went to him when I was restoring my boat. Elliot/Pattison Sail makers is one of the OEM providers- they have all the specs in their data base (Newport beach,Ca) Congrats on making your M15 the newest member of your family (this statement will become clear in short time) Welcome and Fair Winds Mark E M17F/D #103 "AMY" ________________________________ From: "ndorf@surfbest.net" <ndorf@surfbest.net> To: montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com Sent: Tuesday, August 18, 2009 9:26:15 PM Subject: M_Boats: New M15 Owner Introduction Greetings all, I am brand new to the M_Boat scene; just picked up a 1985 M15, ivory with green trim. Boat yet to be named. I will add my boat to the registry shortly. I am based in the Sacramento area and look forward to sharing ideas and making friends with other "trailer sailors", especially locally. I'm not new to sailing; learned on a Sabot as a kid and then sailed a SuperSatellite (pre-runner to C15), and once piloted an Erickson 27 from Lido Island to the Isthmus on Catalina Island with 5 buddies. A humorous story to be shared at another time but suffice to say the trip ended without incident ;-) Anyway, really excited about getting back into sailing after many years without a boat (except a kayak). My wife and I are hoping to be able to attend the Havasu Poker Run but have not signed up yet; too early to clear our work schedules and commit for February 2010. We are also especially interested in linking up for local N. Calif. events particularly Folsom Lake, Oroville, Scotts Flat, Delta (Rio Vista), and when I get enough time on the boat, Monterey Bay and maybe SF Bay (but not the 'slot') Anticipated projects and enhancements include general gelcoat cleanup (it's really not in bad shape at all, just a few cosmetic scratches); clean, sand, and oil the teak trim; install fold-up swim ladder; and maybe some cockpit cushions...all in due time. Any idea, comments, suggestions are welcome Fair Winds, Neil and Becky in Roseville CA _______________________________________________ http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/montgomery_boats Remember, there is no privacy on the Internet!
