Henry, I moved my traveler up onto a board attached across the cockpit and tucked in just below the sill of the companionway hatch. I was able to fill a half dozen potential leaking holes in the cockpit sole and the sheeting angle was widened since the traveler track is not about 8 inches higher. When at anchor the main sheet is stopped to one side or the other with traveler rail sliding stops and the added width of the step into the cabin makes for better footing. I did this with my first M-17 many years ago and it worked out just fine. It is now on my present M-17 as well. Fair winds, TomB. M17, #258, "AS IS"
