Having sailed the SF Bay on even larger Boats (such as 12M) I agree with Don about the currents. The Ebb going through the Golden Gate can be a challenge unless you set 'your' timing with the Tide's timing. Otherwise it's a lot of full speed motoring to come back in during an Ebb. One factor that you might want to consider is the hull speed of a 15 is around 5.5 knots and given the currents you guys have, you may want to consider a boat with a longer waterline. That said, I have no doubt that the M15 can take the conditions that you have in the bay, she is a very seaworthy little boat plus she is easy to rig, and easy to handle.
