I am ready to purchase a brand new outboard because I need peace of mind for going across the Catalina Channel. I have the old style motor mount that is not adjustable. I am asking for any advice about engines from anyone who is willing to share their experience and opinions so that I can make the wisest choice when I shop for an engine. I am also willing to make adjustments to my existing motor mount if it is necessary. Your input is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Paul Baker (Los Angeles)
