Hi David, I can't help with the label itself, but maybe with the interpretation of the incomplete text: From the text you posted, I would assume that the total max gross weight of the trailer is 1500lbs, and 1100lbs is the max carrying capacity, meaning the trailer itself weighs around 400lbs. The only other realistic interpretation is the reverse, but it's not possible that the trailer weighs 1100lbs and can only carry 400lbs, so you can exclude that possibility. The tire size and pressure information is likely outdated due to changes in tire technology, I think you'd be safe just using any tires with sufficient weight rating and sized to not scrape the fenders, and rely on the tire manufacturer to suggest the correct pressure for the actual weight being carried- ideally from putting the boat as trailered on a scale. If helpful, I could send a photo of the plaque from a newer Pacific trailer, so you could see what info should be on it. The (factory?) trailer for my 1981 Montgomery 15 was completely missing the labels, and serial numbers, and came with no title, plates, or anything. I was able to take it to the California DMV and they affixed a new plaque with a DMV assigned VIN, and they issued a new title and registration for it associated with the new VIN. I wondered if anyone else with a mid 1980's Montgomery 15 with a Trail Rite trailer that has a identification tag in better shape that mine could send me an image (I can't see images posted to the group) of theirs or otherwise fill in the missing information. This is what I can read: MFD. BY TRAIL ...ITE...TRAILERS INC. Trail-Rite SANTA ANA, CAMFR'D 3/86...WEIGHT RATING 1500 lbs ...GHT RATING: ALL AXLES 1500 lbs...2(B) TIRES, 12X4 RIMS AT 60 PSI COLD....ORMS TO ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY...ECT ON DATE OF MANUFACTURE SHOWN ABOVE....N NUMBER [>my VIN<] TYPE-TRAILER...G CAPACITY - 1100lbs. The "...'s" represent information I can't read or that is missing. Of most interest would be what the 1100 lbs refers to. I suspect that could be "Carrying Capactity" but am not sure. I am also interested in what it is saying about tires even though I put a new axle and wheels on it since I have had it. I would like to repaint the trailer and that would almost certainly obliterate this old tag entirely. I assume it would be possible (physically at least) to have a replacement tag with all the original information made and affix it to the newly painted trailer. Any thoughts on this?
