If you use the lanocote in a threaded piece -such as the boom, the proper installation would be to use a lock washer under the head of the screw on top of the fitting or a lock washer/lock nut on the other side of the screw (inside the boom - this is actually the real reason my boom is 'ventilated' with "lightening holes" they are there to access bolts/nuts.) Thru bolting is a good solution depending on the load at the fitting, just make sure you don't crush the tube - a compression tube will help or nylock nut stopped before crushing the tube.
I use nylon insert lock nuts or lock washers on all fasteners - if you are unable to use these try drilling and pinning the fastener. Many applications, many solutions. Rivets should have backing washers if they are loaded in any direction other than shear. Rivets (SS and Monel) are usually stronger than the aluminum extrusion.
