Hi John, Good eye to notice that...The rig on the bow pulpit is a mystery to me. It is a winch with rope. When I bought the boat, it was there and I have no idea what the previous owner used it for. I've thought it might be for mast raising. He was an older gentlemen so he may have needed help in that regard, but for me, it is so easy raising the mast on the M15 I haven't needed it. I also thought maybe it was for anchor retrieval as well. I've been thinking of just taking it off, even though it doesn't bother me and doesn't affect sailing. Your guess is as good as mine.
