I also looked at a number of small sailboats recently before I decided to buy a new M15. The boats I looked at were the Compac Legacy, the Compac Suncat, the Precision 18, the Precision 165 and the WWP 15. The Compac Legacy and Precision 165 were nice, but not really capable of overnighting on due to their interior layouts. The Compac Suncat was just too heavy and not closewinded enough. The Precision 18 was also too heavy and the WWP was out of the running very quickly due to multiple reasons. Even though I live in Florida and didnt want to have a boat built so far away from me, I still had no choice but to go for the M15. If you want something you can actually tow and setup and also cruise on for overnight trips, you just cant beat it. Plus it easily fits in the garage. I have owned 4 sailboats ranging in size from 22 feet to 36 feet and really look forward to garage storage. I called up Bob late last year, set everything up and away we went. Bob has been absolutely great to work with and I was able to customize the boat in a number of ways. I should be getting her real soon and can hardly wait! If you decide to go with an M15 you wont regret working with Bob. The people on this list are great to deal with too. There are tons of great discussions on the M15 and the M17. Hello all-
I been looking around the internet for a small sailboat and have developed an interest in the Montgomery 15. Though I've been in touch with Bob Eeg via email and was told he would call me, I've yet to hear from him.
Yesterday I made a trip to the North Carolina Com-Pac dealer and looked at a Com-pac Legacy in person. Seeing the boat and trailer in person lent a whole new dimension to my perception of the boat outside of simply reading about it, and frankly there were several things I didn't care much for and believe I'd find an M15 more to my liking.
I owned a Nimble Kodiak (26 ft.) pilot-house for 10 years that I sailed in Alaska and Canada. Having lost that to a divorce 5 years ago, and being unable to afford another, I'm seriously looking to buy some small but extremely seaworthy sailboat that I can use now.
I'm wondering if anyone here that has a Montgomery 15 would be willing to let me visit with them and see the boat in person? I live in Durham, North Carolina and am willing to drive a reasonable distance for that privilege.
Thanks in advance to anyone that replies.
Jim
