Hey Everyone, Now that the Holidays are over it's time for me to get into gear getting everything together for the Feb Poker Run. If you haven't gotten your reservations made now is the time to do it. I would like to get some headcounts of who has already made their reservations and how many will be planning on attending the dinners on Friday and Saturday night and the Breakfasts on Sat and Sunday mornings. I had been talking with The Nautical about our group so that they would have a heads up on how many to expect for dinner and breakfast each day. They wanted to put together a group rate proposal for us which they did. However, we ran into a fly in the ointment for this year. In order to offer group rates they want deposits paid for the meals and a guarantee of numbers in order to go forward, which I totally understand. However, so far that's now how we have been operating this event. I don't charge anyone for the event and don't have any plans too. That's not what it's about. But that means that there isn't an account to draw from in order to pay some pretty good deposits. I'm not really in a position to fork out deposits hoping that nothing funky happens that causes the turnout to be low and then I'm out my deposits. So, for this year at least, we'll do the event just like last year. We will just be 30-40 individual guests in the restaurant with a full menu and everyone takes care of their own check. It takes a little longer than if we had a special event but it wasn't a problem last year. The down side is that we are not going to get the break on the rooms. Next year when we start planning I'll poll the group and see if the majority would want to turn it into a "pay up front as a group and get the discount" type of event. Then, how it would work is we would put together an entire package (rooms, meals, etc) that you register for and pay all at one time. If you do not have reservations at Havasu Springs Resort for Sat night you probably won't get one, but it's not a problem. Make your Sat night reservation at the Nautical Inn along with your Friday night reservation. We will shuttle you back up on Sat night and back down on Sunday morning. It's about a 20 minute drive each way. A number of folks are already signed up to do it that way so it won't be a problem. I just need to know so we can plan the shuttle appropriately. I don have 1 room reserved in my name that someone can have as Jo and I will run the shuttle and end up in back in town overnight before we shuttle everyone back in the morning.
