The M15 is like having a very comfortable tent. The vberth is very very comfortable. No sitting headroom. The Porta Potty is about as close as you can get to setting up. The 15 is much more comfortable to sleep, and use the head then the montgomery 17 (damned that compression post). More than enough storage for the weekend. Longest I went on my 15 for a trip was 9 days. My 15 had a bit more storage as the cockpit lockers were cut out. significantly increases the amount of storage but you need to be careful not to overload the boat. The 17 is just generally larger, having sitting head room and the marginally functional galley space (some models). I would rather sleep in a montgomery 15 over a montgomery 17 because of the compression post in the montgomery 17. Montgomery's are hard to find up in the Northeast. You will likely need to travel to find a good used one. If you would like to ask me more about the boats, give me a call at 800-621-1065. This is a good number to reach me from 8 a.m. Till around 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. :: Dave Scobie :: www.m17-375.webs.com :: www.freewebs.com/m15-named-scred Alec McCandless <alecmccandless@gmail.com> wrote:
Hello all! I'm new to this group, but not new to sailing.
I'd love to see a member's 15 or 17 in the New England area. I'm in CT now, but will be in northern VT later in the summer. I have a Capri 22 now, but am thinking of downsizing to a Monty 17 or maybe 15...
Can one of you who has cruised the 15, even just for weekends, shoot me a note about it's ability to do this in (relative) comfort? I've done so on the 22, without difficulty, so have some clue what I'm in for...
Much thanks, and the boats seem excellent! -Alec
