I'm going to buck the trend here. It was an absolutely fabulous day of sailing yesterday on the Oregon coast. Clear skies, 65°, North wind (building from 5kts in the morning to 15 in the afternoon), gently rolling 5' swells out of the West and whales galore! Spotted the first one as soon as I cleared the jetties less than 1/4 mile off my starboard bow. That one crossed my bow in less than 40' of water as I headed north parallel to the beach. Had my head on a swivel all day as they spouted, breached and spy hopped all around. The sailing was marvelous and the show was great. It was better than the previous week I spent in Hawaii where it rained every day and rough ocean conditions took some of the fun out of beach activities. I usually patrol the Spit every morning; can’t believe I missed you guys. Would love to sail with you guys. I’m based in Boise and for me it’s a 10 hour drive. Hope to meet up one of these days.

We’re up campground hosting at Spencer Spit State PArk on Lopez Island. The rainiest and coolest for this time of year since we’ve been up here for 14 years of volunteering. Pete M15 377 Sent from my iPhone
