Doug: Something else, IMO, going on of replacing that often. Where is line wearing? The line on my old M17 is 15 or so years old. Was looking fine when dropped board in early '19 so only old knot cut off and new bowline tied. Challenge with a grommet is greater chance of jamming in and damage to the trunk. :: Dave Scobie :: M6'8" #650 :: Baba 30 #233 DEJA VU :: former owner SV SWALLOW - sailboatswallow.wordpress.com/ :: former owner M17 #375 SWEET PEA - m17-375.com :: former owner M15 #288 SCRED - m15namedscred.wordpress.com On Thu, Aug 24, 2023, 11:34 Douglas Vogel via montgomery_boats < montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:
Is there any kind of grommet I could install to minimize chafe ? This is my second pennant replacement in 8 years. Thanks Dave. Doug

For the cast iron board boats all it is is a 5/16" double braid line. The centerboard end remove about 6-8" of the core tie a small bowline to the board.
For the M15-centerboard boats the line is also 5/16", still remove the core but instead tie a 8-knot after running the line to the centerboard.

Good morning sailers,
Does anyone have a source for a centerboard pennant for my Montgomery 17 # 325. West Marine seems to want $145 for oneā¦.
Thanks, Doug Vogel
