Pseudo lapstrake boats!?!?!?!?! Why,Jon, don't you know that BEFORE there were wooden lapstrake boats there were fiberglass lapstroke boats. But then some people with too much time on their hands decided to make pseudo lapstrake boats out of just plain wood so they could contend with rot, and toredo worms, and rust and corrosion. Well those guys have finally worn themselves out fixing instead of sailing their boats so then someone came up with the bright idea to make fiberglass lapstrake boats AGAIN so they could go sailing instead of sanding. I hope there will be enough wind to make sailing interesting and counter the usual amount of "hot air". But seriously, I am looking forward to meeting all the other pseudo lap strake boat sailors and learning more about my boat, rig tuning and racing (at which I am a novice).
Special thanks to those who offered to help retrieve a new rudder for my boat in So cal. As my lovely wife pointed out, if I modify my route and go thru LA, I could pick it up myself. The seller also has a new 100% headsail for a P19 or Sanibel17 available for $375 obo. Sail is posted on Craigslist la . If I knew how I would include a link to that Craigslist page.
See you in AZ, Jon Barber Ol'44 Montgomery17 Modesto, CA

Fellow Sailors, Please find link to the above noted regatta at Lake Pleasant Arizona.
http://www.arizonayachtclub.org/racing
Go to the section marked 'Birthday Regatta/Leukemia Cup' for Notice of Race, Sailing Instructions and Course Maps.
This is the event that spawned the WICR - named by a past competitor and winning solo skipper, for the "WrinkleBoat Intergalactic Championship Regatta" (we could not use the name Nat'l/World/ or U.S. championships due to conflict with USSailing and ISAF)
We sail 3 +/- course races on Saturday, a 'round the islands' race on Sunday and have dinners and general Ran-Tan activities Frida/Sat/Sunday evenings. If anyone is interested in Cruising at the Lake - I will be happy to show you around on either Friday or Monday - there are some nice and interesting locations - Very little traffic at the Lake in February - some beautiful scenery and wildlife is out and about.
Info has been a bit slow in coming around but the AzYC is working hard to get the news out for this event. Those of you that have been to the WICR are invited again as are ALL WrinkleBoat sailors!
2+ days of sail racing and or cruising with like minded sailors and a broad spectrum of boats. Sages, Montgomerys and this year a 'somewhat' modified P-14 of fame, notoriety and great interest, & 'PaintBoy' the wonder 17, are slated to sail!
I know this is short notice but - if the snow and cold have got you jonesing for some sailing - check it out. Our Fearless Leader, the multi-talented designer/builder/sailor - Mr. Jerry Montgomery will be our Guest of Honor along with personalities of 'different' skills - maybe a sailmaker or two, a 'painter' and an aerodynamicist have expressed intentions of sailing this weekend. (we could use a Doctor for sure!)
Arizona in the winter is a very special place - high and low elevations are in their prime at this time of the year - make a trip of it!
Great boats - Better people! We can't gaurantee the weather but - no snow or other natural disasters are likely to interfere with the Ran-Tan in this part of the country!
If you have any questions email me at gilasailr at aol.com or call 602 703-SAIL Thanks for your time - Hope to see many new sailors and ALL the 'Old' ones there!
GO M-17T 'Tiny Purple Fishes'
PS - I'll be crewing this year and some 'out-of-towners' will be sailing sail #354.
a couple years ago in light air...sometimes it's breezy .....sometimes its lazy.
