a good part, from hove to in breaking seas, it is also very good at waiting out weather when going a new port of call, the trick of course is to stay in the slick, if you run in front of it you lose that protection, sometimes that requires a streaming aft lines. My Islander 36 did real well with just a three reefed main (shaped like a trysail)and storm jib for balance. Mike
