Bones- Not all the 17's had a bilge, so you're not going blind. Jerry ----- Original Message ----- From: <bownez@juno.com> To: <montgomery_boats@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Saturday, August 07, 2004 6:45 AM Subject: M_Boats: Bilge talk again
Dear Jerry and listers,
I have my 76 M17 #92 under refit, and I was curious to investigate the
mystery bilge area that I didn't recall having.
After shoehorning my 6'2" frame with a flashlight down the quarterbirth, I can find no opening whatsoever behind the centerboard trunk. I do have the large plastic holding tank for the galley sink, perhaps when the holding tank is used, the blige opening is glassed over? I wonder, if water does find its way in there, how does one remove it? There does seem to be a bit of weeping around the swing keel bolt. Great to re-aquaint myself with my first "M" boat. I plan to move her to Duluth, Mn to sail the area Labor Day weekend.
Later,
Bones
