The mast head tricolor can only be used when you're under sail. You have to have a separate set of navigation lights if you are operating under power at night and the masthead tricolor cannot be used in conjunction with other navigation lights. The white light is indeed the stern light when the tricolor is in use. An anchor light must be an all around light. Please learn which lights are to be used for different situations before the need arises. They can save your life!
