Hi Andrew, I have had three people on my M-17 several times and there is plenty of room. I think four would be comfortable as well. As far as overnight, my wife does not sail so all my experience has been alone and there is plenty of room. I sailed the San Juan / Gulf Islands in 2009 and there were several M-17's with husband and wife teams overnighting and at least one with a dog as well. They seemed to work it out just fine and one couple had a custom boom tent that covered the cockpit so they could move a bunch of stuff out there to make more room for sleeping in the cabin. I had a Potter 19 before the Montgomery that had a lot of room inside as well for it's size, although the cockpit was much smaller than the Monty. Hope this helps, let us know what you end up with. My sailing experience consists of a lot of windsurfing and a little catamaran sailing - mostly a long time ago. My question - how many can comfortably daysail in a '17? Weekend? We are used to being in close quarters camping.
