I thought about getting a stern pulpit just for drink holders and mob gear though in fifty years of sailing I have never had anyone fall overboard. Fingers crossed. Not dead yet.

I use nalgene bottles or soda bottles. Set them in the corners of the footwell so they don't roll far.
Some do use those holders that suction cup to cabin side (I don't like for two reasons: lines catch on them and eventually they pop loose at an inopportune time).
