Jim, The email address give's you away every time.? Look at it this way, education is good!! Here is a basic explanation I borrowed from another bulletin boards posting. Barber haulers are great for controlling the angle of pull on a headsail sheet. Mine is a basic block and tackle (similar to your main sheet, but the loads are much less, so fewer pulleys are needed) hooked down to the toe rail and up to a snatch block????? that snaps around the genoa sheet. Depending on where you attach it, it can either pull the sheet down or in. For example if the top of the head sail is luffing before the bottom, put the barber hauler on and pull the sheet down a bit until the whole leading edge of the sail luffs at the same time. If you are using a smaller headsail than normal, it may want to be sheeted in closer to the centerline of the boat for best performance. Here, a barberhauler could be attached near the mast to pull the sheet more towards the centerline. For many new fangled fancy boats, barber haulers are not needed because these boats have multiple and adjustable genoa lead tracks that allow one to get the perfect sheet angle regardless of conditions. I had been planning this mod for my 17. Has anyone added a track to an old school aluminum toe rail 17?
The most used sail in my inventory is the 155. I do use a snap shackle/ swivel block....on the toe rail to adjust...but when sheeted in hard the foot is inside the life lines. I have also used a barberhauler to close the slot to good effect at times......not that that has anything to do with a track....

=========================== Definitely sheet outside for a 155. I recommend mounting a couple-three feet of genoa track on the toe rail, starting abouit four feet from the aft end or the rail, about where the combing stops turning and straightens out going toward the stern of the boat. You'll need to mound a cleat up on the combing--a largish horn or jam cleat will do the trick, but you can get fancier if you want...

I would think that as well. Something like a 155 would go to a couple feet of track on the toe rail (that's how I had mine set up), but 125 could stay inside. t

At what size does the Genoa have to go outside the shrouds on an M15?
I would have thought that a 125 could stay inside.

S kippers
I am getting a 125 genoa for the Pelican.
I need advice on how to run the sheets. Do you skippers run a Genoa track with snatch block? Do you install an additional cleat?
Pelican will be launched on 4 th of July at Dana Point**
I am excited!!! Will no longer be a virtual sailor
Thank to everyone on this list who helped me restore the Pelican.
