Friends, Arnold Haskin (AHASKIN@csudh.edu) is hosting a Montgomery Rendezvous for the weekend of July 30 at Brownsville, WA, on the Puget Sound http://www.portofbrownsville.org/ . Arnold is having trouble posting email to the MSGO list and asked that I post this information on his behalf. For questions or more information, please contact Arnold by email at AHASKIN@csudh.edu . Thanks Arnold for hosting this event! Prices have gone up slightly, if you wish to reserve a slot please go to PortofBrownsville.org for information. Reservations can be made by paying for at least one evening directly to the Port. Since my orginal proposal a pod of Orcas stopped within a 500 yards of the Marina long enough for one of them to give birth, and an adolescent gray whale hung around close enough and long enough to confuse everyone as to what he was doing there. Thursday evenings are Seafood Buffet nights at the Point Casino, if you are Dungeness Crab fancier, you can really embarass yourself for $16.00($12.76 if you are 55 or older). I have reserved the barbecue Pavillion for Saturday evening, there is a campground adjacent to it, but reserve space through the Port as it can fill up. Hope you can attend and pass the info along to anyone else you might think would be interested. ________________________________ From: Arnold Haskin Sent: Mon 9/27/2004 5:46 PM To: jaczoey@yahoo.com; gmhyde1@mac.com; RandyG@cite.nic.edu; rqlhg@ieee.org; Arnold Haskin Subject: Montgomery 2005 Rendezvous Prospective Dates I spoke with the Harbor Master at Brownsville, and presently the following 2005 weekend dates are available. 7/30;8/6;8/13; 8/20;8/27. Midweek dates are more flexible. Holiday weekends are more difficult. Events at the beginning of September include: The Victoria Classic Boat festival on Labor Day weekend; the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival the following weekend; the Northwest Kayak Symposium the weekend after the Wooden Boat Festival, also in Port Townsend. Brownsville transient rates are $9.00/night or $50.00/week for boats up to 24 feet. Electricity is $3/night or $10/week. Vehicle and trailer parking is included. It is actually cheaper to stay in the Brownville Marina then on a Washington Marine Float. There are any number of short cruise destinations accessible to the Marina. If you have an M-15 and a family of 5 as well as a dog, you may want to consider camping in the designated marina campgrounds. The first weekend in October usually includes the Shelton(Wa) Oyster Festival and the Kinetic Sculpture Races in Port Townsend. I understand a San Juans cruise may be in the works for June, folks traveling from a distance might consider doing both activities in a reasonable time period. Do we have any Geo Caching Fans? If the event does take place the Boomkicker folks have offered some support. Please send me your date preferences.
