Sounds interesting, particularly since traveler car solutions don't allow travel over full cockpit width. Please give us more details. Tom Jenkins M17 Scintilla On Mar 8, 2011, at 10:26 PM, GILASAILR@aol.com wrote:
This type of a traveler can be built using line and blocks - no track or car is needed - a loop in the center of a continuous loop and two cam or clam cleats (Hint - alum. ones Stanley) - attach the mainsheet block to the loop and Viola' (that there is pernunced Vee - O - Lah) , you have a mainsheet traveler that is cheap, effective and has minimal holes in the cockpit sole - actually NO holes in the sole if you mount turning blocks at seat tank vertical surfaces as they should be, for maximum travel, as there is VERY little room on the sole for an effective span for the traveler.
Great little splicing project using some dyneema for the loop - EASY to splice. Less holes in the boat is a major benefit and full traveler advantages to boot for them that has to have'em.
I will try and draw it out, spec the hardware, and post it 'somewhere' in the next few days if you are interested. (A bit busy right now, My wife's B-Day is tomorrow!)
