They say that Oriental is the sailboat capital of the east. Don't know exactly how that survey overlooked Anapolis. Maybe they meant the southeast. Anyway, I have sailed on the Neuse and it is a fabulous sailing area. I don't think there is anything currently advertised for a 'messabout'. But I can't think of a nicer area to do such a thing. I haven't seen any messabouts advertised for that area; I know a boat designer that has an informal messabout for his designs out of Vandemere, NC (near Oriental). I'll ask him about any others looking to do a general messabout in that area.

I also noticed in the Nov/Dec 'Small Craft Advisor' that someone started up a Texas 200 similar to the regatta in the PNW for small trailerables. this got me thinking about something on the east coast. Maybe in the Chesapeake, like a Solomon to Tangier, or around the outer banks like an Oriental to Ocracoke.
I'm retired and other than working on my thesis of how to turn beer, wine and spirits into amonia based liquids, I have time to help out on this.
