Sam, Rented a boatslip at Conkling Park to avoid the hassle of launching and stepping the mast, etc, but I did learn that the state park with a public dock on Chacolet was enough of a sail that I wanted to tie up and go use the necessary facilities. Also sailed there then camped a few times too, Steve M-15 # 335 -----Original Message----- From: Sam Sent: Sunday, March 19, 2017 8:41 PM To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats Subject: Re: M_Boats: introductions Hi Pete and Steve, Nice to meet you both! I wonder if you've ever launched from Rocky Point or Chatcolet? Both are just a bit south of Conkling but have the distinct advantage of being free (if you have an Idaho Parks Pass). I sailed out of both of them a number of times last summer with a little dinghy, and mostly they weren't bad (only an occasional motorboat with enough wake to make the dinghy a bit risky). Pete, I too encountered the problem of drunk power boaters along with teen-age power boaters on the N. end of Lake Couer D' Alene, seemed the the closer to town the more problems, but down the lake from about Harrison on S. the problem seemed to diminish, which has something to do with my sailing out of Conkling Park, and lower prices at that end too. I will comment that I rarely see that problem while sailing on South Puget Sound, and I will credit the frequent patrols by Thurston County Sherriff patrol and Port of Olympia Harbor Patrol, and have seen the official boats from both agencies flash their blue lights and stop errant boaters. Hi Sam, I have a M 15 as well and Sail mine out of Lake Pend Oreille, ( even though I live about 3 blocks from Lake Coeur d Alene ...to many drunk Motor boaters ) I was fortunate enough to Sail with Larry Yake and Rand Graves Last year ( they both have 17's )
Best Regards,
Pete
