Report from Glastonbury, CT At 1430 EDT the barometer has dropped to 988 mb. Wind from the northeast at about 35 to 40 MPH; medium rain. At the Connecticut coast, there are areas of flooding; Sandy landfall is happening earlier than first anticipated, so the maximum storm surge in Long Island Sound will not occur at high tideas first feared. At Old Saybrook at the mouth of the Connecticut River, the Emergency Shelters are full of people. By tomorrow morning, the worst should have passed and we'll be left with more rain and flooding. So far no power outages in our area. The storm anchor is holding well. Connie
