I had that happen because I put the jib downhaul to close and it assisted in pulling the pin for me, while I had the main up. This was on a P-15 (real short mast) however, it was in SF bay with 15 to 20 knot winds in a boat that I was losing confidence in fast. I rolled up the whole mess and motored back to the dock - broken pride and all. The motor boat community rarely knows when we do it right or wrong. I didn't get so much as a comment even though I came in all detached. Hair raising! I didn't go back out that day. Bill
