Jim, That certainly is a very nice Christmas present. I also have a 2 hp Honda 4 stroke on M15 #310 - fixed motor mount. This Honda engine will not tip forward to the latch position unless you twist the head counter clockwise as you tilt it forward. There may be just enough room to engage and disengage the latch but you will have to try it. I bolted on a 1 1/2" thick ( 2 laminated slabs of 3/4 Marine ply) to the existing mount but extended the height about 2 1/2". The motor clamps on to the extended height section which raises the prop slightly so it doesn't drag as much and is easier to tilt and release the engine. If you sail in choppy waves a lot, the tilt lock will bounce on the cast portion of the tilt mechanism and scrape the metal off so it will not lock. I use a bungee cord with hooks to tilt the engine a little farther and keep the pressure off of the tilt lock mechanism.
