Meant to write that the CLEVIS PIN (not the cotter pin) did not allow wiggle room for the backstay at the top of the mast. Also replaced all the rigging on my O'Day 25 with upsized 3/16 stainless. Both jobs were handled by the guys at the above address. They are "Ocean Rigging" and are located in Fort Myers, Florida. They will complete orders based on measurements you send them and ship the stays to you, so distance is not an issue. I combined measurements with digital photos to make sure they got it right when they rigged my O'Day 25 which is kept in Wisconsin. They did a fine job at a reasonable price. Good guys too. Their workshop includes a marine wood working shop run by a separate person. They are artists. Only problem is when visiting their shop, you might trip over a dog. They love dogs. By the way, the original backstay on my M17 was 1/8 stainless. It began to fail at the top. The cotter pin that held it in place was quite tight and did not allow the stay any wiggle room. Wind had moved the backstay back and forth and eventually the stainless fibers began to part to due "wiggle" metal fatigue where they enter the compression sleeve. If any of you add a backstay to an M15 or if you replace the backstay on an M17, be sure to add a toggle jaw at the top. That will allow wiggle room and prevent the kind of metal fatique my backstay suffered. This is esp. important if your boat stays in one place and the mast stays up all the time. I have no sailboat repair facilities here in Planet Utah. Also, my chainplates have two holes for the shrouds. Would double shrouds be overkill or a good safety precaution? What about a backstay? There is none on my M-15. Do the newer ones have backstays?
