Don, I watch Shipshape Boating on DIY network (DVR is great) and I watched this last week as they went over putting bottom paint on their boat. Of course they used a 13' whaler which was very quick, but the process would be the same regardless of size. They covered blisters and using the interlux products. The main point that was made here thu was that you should use the same brand antifouling as the barrier coat. Whatever your choice. I live in Corpus Christi, Texas and learned very quickly that you must use anti-fouling. I use the West Marine CPP plus (they are overstocked) and is 11.00 for a pint. I use the ablative since I do take the boat out of the water for extended periods of time. Hope that helps. Bottom growth is very agressive here. You could stick a bare 2x4 in the water and come back two weeks later to find alge and barnacles adhering to it. In 3 month, worms would have bored enough holes to make it look like Swiss Cheese. Also, should I coat the c;board also?
