Bill, I'll be curious as to what ends up working for you. I'm rebuilding the centerboard in my new (old) m-15 right now. In fact, the epoxy is setting as I type this. Essentially, the leading edge of my centerboard delaminated because it had banged on the trailer, and having lost it's water-tightness, began to separate. Not a design problem--more due to carelessness. I cut away the delaminated part and sanded off the rust on the steal insert. Then I re-faired the shape using an epoxy filler. That part accomplished, I'm now adding a layer of fiberglass embedded in epoxy to encase it. Once that part is done, I hope to match the original gelcoat. But, I'm a little concerned that the gelcoat may not stick to the epoxy-based repair. The dude at West Marine wasn't sure if it would. Anybody have an opinion on this? I suppose the alternative would be to use an epoxy paint as a barrier coat. Also, I'd be interested in what the magic formula is in order match the gel coat color. Is it simply a stock color that comes from a particular manufacturer? Or something that actually needs to be color-matched? BTW, Bob, or Jerry, I need a bow pulpit. Can I order one direct from you guys? Or is there a company that makes them for you?
