I second Scott's recommendation. Alcohol stoves have a reputation of low heat output, but as an old backpacker, I find my Origo will boil water almost as fast as my white gas and butane stoves. I find it almost too hot for my backpacking oven. And after the second year of use, I'm still trying to finish off the first gallon of fuel. Hi group, At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I would like to share my success/happiness with the Origo absorption-type alcohol stove (I have the single burner model #1500).
I am frustrated that so few people are aware of what I feel is a much better alternative. Try one of the Origo's, you'll like it.
