jib down haul and do you guys feel it's that important to dose the jib in heavy weather using one.
i used one on my 15 in all weather.
How important is a boom vang
as you say with the mid-boom sheeting not all that important when going to weather. you NEED a vang when off the wind to keep that boom down.
a light air genny with a pole better.
yes. the large main loves to collapse the little jib when off the wind. means you need a pole. if you choose to have a larger than 130%-ish headsail you will need to add a jib-car track on the toe-rail. a large headsail will not sheet inside the shrouds. a larger headsail will help in light winds. remember, with the difference in sheeting angle you will loose some ability to point into the wind. :: Dave Scobie :: former M15 owner - www.freewebs.com/m15-named-scred :: M17 #375 - SWEET PEA - www.m17-375.webs.com :: Sage Marine - www.sagemarine.us --- On Sun, 4/10/11, Karen and Smiley <magoo252@comcast.net> wrote:
I'd like to see your set up for a jib down haul and do you guys feel it's that important to dose the jib in heavy weather using one. Also do you have pictures of your set up for a down haul for the main sail and a boom vang set up. How important is a boom vang when you have your main sheet attachment is that close to boom center anyway? Lastly what modifications did you need to make to add a reacher to your small boat and is a reacher better or a light air genny with a pole better. Thanks for any input you have and please forward any pic's to my home e-mail.
