Redid my teak this way, the most work was removing the old finish, some kind of varnish or cetol-like substance that was peeling, absent, faded, etc. but still thick and tenacious in some places. The "wet sanding" refers to sanding with #400 wet or dry after applying the first few coats of oil, and before letting it sit 15 min and then wiping off the excess. Does not mean wet-sanding the wood while preparing to oil it. As Dave said, don't do that. Dry sanding to smooth, strip, etc. before starting the oiling. FWIW I used two applications of Daly's Ship'N'Shore first, then 5-6 applications of Daly's Teak Oil. Came out great. cheers, John S. On 07/17/2017 01:37 AM, Robbin Roddewig wrote:
Hi all, not as exciting as major rebuild stuff but I just did my first rubbed oil finish on a teak drawer. Has anyone got experience with this? I was going from a couple of books and wonder if I pulled off the desired finish.
Thanks Robbin
