Re: Facebook and difficulty accessing files, I agree as the typical method of sharing information is in blog format. With respect to my M17 steel to lead conversion and crack repair, I relied on Dave Scobie, Bob Egg and Sean Mulligan for technical input via facebook. I created a power point annotating my steps and identifying where the process could have been improved. If you look at the "files" tab under the Montgomery facebook page you'll see the power point in "*.pdf" format titled "Shoal Keel Repair Rev. A.". I like this advantage as you do not need to wade through past years of blog format information. I plan to create a similar power point documenting my transom repair which is almost an exact copy of Sean Mulligan's which I copied through his facebook posting and messaging. The advantage of facebook is pictorial representation. After I complete the top side painting and rebedding of hardware, I am looking at how to run my rigging starting from a clean slate. In this case, I will sincerely appreciate photos rigging options that have worked for fellow M17 sailors. Unfortunately, this forum while I have meticulous saved and folder sorted the threads by subject, the rigging guidance is challenging for me to comprehend. So ... when I am ready to ask for help, would sincerely appreciate your advice and pictures. I will then create a power point documenting what I create to be filed under the Montgomery facebook group "files" tab. No one method works, appreciate this forum as well. I really dislike Facebook myself, but 'bit the bullet' and created a profile just for the Montgomery group. It has no friends, profile photos, etc. so I don't have to see anything but the Montgomery group. I even setup an ad blocker so there is no ads or "feed." I've been using e-mail lists for decades, and really like them, but they seem to be a dying thing. It's a shame because they can be archived as flat text files, with the cumulative wisdom and advice saved forever- which I don't think is possible for Facebook groups or forums, which eventually get lost and disappear. I don’t do FB either, but am still sailing a bit. Continuing to live in New Mexico but bought a cottage on Seneca Lake (in New York’s Finger Lakes) and get over there two or three times a year to sail. Have a covered hoist for winter storage with mast down and a topless hoist for summer, so no more trailering. 😊 Bill Riker Storm Petrel
