Oh yeah. I hate to admit it, but I had the exact same experience this summer. A lady looking at Tullamore said "Why, it's just adorable!" When she saw the look on my face, she asked "Is that alright? Adorable?"
I told her I prefer classic.
Sounds like Monty sailors run into the same reactions all over the country.
