Hi Craig, My first small boat - after down-sizing from the 29 footer - was the Bolger MICRO. Yes it's a square box, but boy, do you ever have lots of room in a square box! It also was a great sailer, and one time, hard on the wind on the Intercoastal near Clearwater, FL it took a 33 footer with crew hiking out on the windward side, and flying a big genny a long, long time to pass me. The windward crew were amazed, and as they imperceptibly crept past me they were asking, "what is it?" and "who makes it?". I'd probably still have it today except for the fact that stepping the 26 foot solid spruce main mast became too much for me to handle. I could easily carry it horizontally, but holding it up at about a 75 degree angle to get the heel of the mast down into the mast step in the forward compartment became too difficult. That's when I said; size is right, but mast stepping has to be easier, which led me to the ComPac 16 I had seen in the area. The ComPac was the right size but it was a poor sailer hard on the wind, and the accommodations and storage was terrible. So recognizing the shortcomings of the ComPac I then found the Montgomery, and that's where I most happily am today. ...............Oh, I also built the Bolger Cartopper and his NYMPH pram as a dinghy. Both great performing boats. Connie
