Before I bought y M-15 (cica 1982) I too was concerned about the steel punches and the welling of the keel trunk. I read Sean's trials & tribulations ith Dauntless and almost passed on buying my boat and wait for a lead keel onty to become available. I spoke with Bob Eeg about the possibility of aving this problem in the future and he recommeded a new CB if I ere to experience any sticking problems. It appears that the trunk swells ue to the rusty steel punches and squeezes the CB. The new CB that Bob ells is slimmer and eliminates the sticking issue. It's also lot cheeper then replacing the balast, not to mention the labor and trouble f the surgery involved. Bob is very aware of the issue with the early odel Monty's and this is his recommendation. Personnally, I'd ollow Bob's recommendation before I attempted any major surgery. Good Luck, kip randy #201 ==end prior message=== jim sadler <jimsadler@jascopacific.com> wrote: Thanks Skipper You are right. I need to do some math to see how much the enterboards weigh. Do you know how much the original CB weighs? here can I get a new original CB? Can you get a CB a little thinner han the original to compensate for the swollen well.
