Yeah my Honda 2.3 has its own little zinc...cute! My take is, there's nothing on my M17 hull that would need a zinc. The only part that isn't fiberglass that is in the water all the time (besides the CB) is the cockpit drain thru-hull tube, which if OEM is aluminum and has no connection to any other metal on the boat. There's no metal thru-hull valves/fittings/parts (bilge draining, engine cooling, prop shaft housings, etc.) on our boats like on some bigger boats. Those are what typically get wired to a sacrificial zinc. If one has added stuff like that, then there might be benefit to tying it to a zinc, for a boat sitting in saltwater for a while. Even more so if it's in mixed/brackish water, which I learned in Hawai'i is even harder on metal than straight seawater. cheers, John On 2/8/23 17:41, Dave Scobie wrote:
Not done on the boat. Only the outboard.

Hi all,
Posting this for Keith K, who is having some kind of trouble posting to the list at the moment. His question is:
"Have other M owners put sacrificial zincs/aluminum on there boats? If so where? My boat stays on a mooring now for 4-5 months, full on salt water."
cheers, John
