Friday Afternoon Plans for Chalk-talk sessions Friday afternoon - Topics include, but not limited to: 'That Pesky Start Sequence Thing' - How do you hit the line on time? Where IS the line?, Can I "barge?" , Can I be going a bit FASTER at the Start signal? What is the 'Start Signal? these questions and more will be answered by Dave Scobie (Sage Marine) at his session ! Let's test his knowledge base with some good questions! Participants will get handout for 'Start Sequence' provided in large type format - tape it to the bulkhead! If you attend this presentation and use the handout - you are almost guaranteed to beat a world famous boat designer with facial hair at the weekends race starts! (really - I almost guarantee results) 'Basics of Getting Around the Race Course' or (don't follow the yellow boat to the LONG mark!) Gary Oberbeck will explain basic tactics to help you get around the course with fewer side excursions. Topics may include -What is the best tactic upwind? Which side of the Lake is better when_____? Should you go low and slow or heat it up on that long downwind leg? Basic covering tactics (you are now in 1st Place - Cover yer *ss!), Is there a favored side to the: Course,Leg.Start/Finish Line? The guy blabbering all this has some local knowledge he will share to help us become faster,better,more efficient sailors, investors, auto mechanics and lovers. --- Just make sure you check the course chart - DO NOT follow yellow/white boat! {;>) Not an impressive line-up for the Speakers you say? No 'heavyweights? - well - Russell,Dean and the boys have other commitments. We ARE working on additional topics/ and some Speaker-types that really know what the hell they are talking about, maybe we'll get lucky. We meet up a short drive down the track for road food, adult beverages, pool, jukebox and to discuss plans for the ensuing battles on the Lake. This is the place to psych out the competition - or get them drunk so they miss the start in the morning. Please No Wagering (in public). Saturday Evening is Dinner/Leukemia Cup Awards and Auction at the Marina restaurant - Indoors on the water and newly remodeled under new management. Big soiree folks - Dress for Saturday evening should reflect and respect the occasion and gravity of the weekends event!
