Hi Bill, great stuff. I thought that the coating needed to be all in one series of sessions to hot bond (like over one day). At least I seem to remember it did when I used Interlux 2000e. I saw a boat at my yard yesterday that had barrier coat done and thought that I was happy that if is a once in a boat life time job, that I am done with on my 23. It is one of the times I could do without lapstrake! I love having the boat at a slip. It does mean bottom painting each season (which I have the marina handle) but it is great to arrive and be on the water in about 15 minutes. Yesterday took a bit longer as it was the first time out but it still was a quick job to get out of the dock. Hope all goes great with your jobs! Had the old bottom paint from previous owner soda blasted during the winter. Have been waiting through the spring for room to open in the marina yard after all the winter storage boats were launched.
This week the yard lifted our M17 of the trailer and onto a cradle high enough to drop the centreboard out
We spent this weekend cleaning up spots that could not be reached during the soda blasting on the trailer. Filled and sanded some pin hole spots where the gel coat was thin, or the blasting a bit heavy. Took out the c/b and cleaned it up. Some of the seams were a bit open so they got thickened epoxy.
Jacked the cradle so the boat was level as measured on the cockpit seats. Laser level helped to strike a new and slightly higher waterline. We went an extra 3/4" all around, plus some extra on the port side due to the list from the outboard and the anchor in the deep locker.
Taped the waterline. That was tough. Thanks to pointers from Dave Scobie on doing this.
First coat of four of Interprotect barrier coat on by this evening.
So the major part is done now. Back to the yard next weekend. Hopefully balance of the barrier coat on Saturday, and 2 coats of anti fouling on Sunday.
First year for us to slip the boat for the season. Have always dry sailed since we got the boat in 2009.
