Robert I will keep your offer in mind as I complete my "Due Diligence" on the subject of Furling for an M15 George -----Original Message----- From: montgomery_boats [mailto:montgomery_boats-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Robert Hall Sent: Sunday, June 28, 2015 9:54 PM To: For and about Montgomery Sailboats Subject: Re: M_Boats: FW: Roller furling M15 was Turning Turtle George, I have a swivel and drum set similar to the Harken prduct from a Siren I once owned which I will part with for $100 plus postage. The only mod to the hank on procedure you are currently using is the insertion if a wire in the luff of your jib which then become the fore sail. With this system the jib is either set or furled, but at least you eliminate the hank on inconvenience. ... What are your thoughts on the Harken Small Boat Furler ($250) where the Jib Luff wire becomes the headstay?
This one says in Harken's product info that it is for furling only, not reefing, just in case that matters for anyone's application. I take that to mean fully furled or fully deployed are the two operating modes for it...not partly furled (reefed). cheers, John S. -- John Schinnerer - M.A., Whole Systems Design -------------------------------------------- - Eco-Living - Whole Systems Design Services People - Place - Learning - Integration john@eco-living.net - 510.982.1334 http://eco-living.net http://sociocracyconsulting.com
