Mark, I haven't done it myself, but my friend, Abbey Gura has a 23 year old virtually perfect M15 that he routinely picks up from the trailer to the water by the chain plates. According to him, they are more than strong enough and being located amidships the boat is balanced when lifting from those two points. Later this summer I plan to cruise with him from his yacht club on the south shore of Long Island, NY where he uses this method of launching. I guess I'll be doing the same thing so I can let you know then how it worked. I believe he told me that when he bought the boat new, Jerry used this method to put the boat on the trailer. Maybe Jerry will comment on this method. Anyway, Abbey is a prudent sailor and I'm sure he wouldn't risk damage to his boat if he wasn't absolutely sure of this method. Rick M15 #337 Bluebird

Hi Everyone,
We have an M-15 and want to move it to a place that has a hoist launch with a hook, but no sling. Does anyone have experience in hoist launching a Montgomery that they would be willing to share?
Thanks!
Mark
