Hello John, Thanks ever so much for the invitation. I would love to drive up. Perhaps this weekend, but how about a week day? Where is Doug located? He sent me mail but no phys. address. As of now I am leaning a bit in favor of the M15 over the M17. All the same, until I examine the M15, I have to say the 17 is the best ergonomics I've ever seen on a boat. Amazing. It would be nice if I could find either boat in the water. Does the M15 have alternate layouts like the larger boat has, or have you seen em all to see one? ED

Ed, I'm probably the closest M-15 to you (by direct line anyway, nothing's very close when you've got to go up one river then across and down another). I'm in Leonardtown, MD, up at the head of Breton Bay. 'Chimpanzee' is stored in my garage, presently surrounded by stuff, but you're welcome to have a look pretty much any weekend. I don't sail her much due to time constraints, but hope to get her out for the Leonardtown Waterfront Celebraton on Sept. 12. If you want to see one this long weekend, though, by the time you cross the Potomac on 301 you'll be just as close to Doug and where he's launching as to Leonardtown, and he'll be getting his boat wet. He sails his M-15 with a gaff rig he made himself recently.
Doug, any other M's sailing down (I assume) river with you?

Ed,
What a nice string of boats to have owned. I would like to try them all :-)
I live in Northern VA, near Reston but plan on launching accross the Patuxent river from Benedict, MD on September 5. Not sure of the time yet but will probably still be there at noon if you want to meet us there.
Let me know.

Hello All,
I found Montgomery boats quite by chance surfing on the last day of the year 2007. I was very intrigued and thought I would buy a secondhand M17, but could find nothing for sale in the South. I live in Virginia. I believe I like the Ms for the right reasons: wellmade, seakindly, easy to sail, minimal, shoal draft. Meanwhile I bought a very nice Tiki 21 catamaran.
That last feature has been true of all my boats. It's because I live on the water, on the Rappahannock River, but my mooring at low tide is under two feet. My boats have been, in order: Town 16, Rhodes Bantam, Mobjack, Sunbird 18 trimaran, Tremolino 23 trimaran, Bolger Martha Jane, and the Tiki. I sold my it this past 8/24. Why? Cabin too small. You touch three out of four sides. The one drawback of all small multihulls.
I am very eager to look at an M15. I know a couple of M people nearby own M17s. Does anybody know who owns an M15 around the Chesapeake?
