Randy, Again here, we can get away with a lot of things due to the small size of our boats. The rules loosen up A LOT for smaller boats. BUT, if you were going to do things the way the rule is written for larger boats, which seems to be what some here are wanting to do, then your lights do not fit the rule either. When motoring, your "bow light" (steaming light) should be above (higher than) your red and green nav lights. Don't shoot, :-) that's the way it's written in Chapman's. As I say though, your boat has to be over 7 meters LOD., I believe, before this gets applied. 15s and 17s are well under that. My thinking behiind keeping lights lower is that people don't tend to look up. Rik
