The photos of my former boat suspended by a forklift seem to horrify most, and that's probably good. Just be sure you trust the sling. In the photos the boat is held up by a three-point wire sling I made up, attached to the chainplates. If you look close you can see there's a separate-but-equal safety sling (heavy red line), in case one of the two broke. We got Al's M-17 board back in this way a few weekends back. (We have a new, bigger forklift since that photo was taken.) The M-17 is way heavier and a good candidate for a marina's travel-lift. The usual disclaimer: don't try this at home. Unless you happen to have a forklift and some 1500-pound test wire. About a year ago I dropped a 26-footer while forklifting it. The boat and crew came away unharmed, but I still need a few beers in me before I'll tell the story. John
