The fiberglass rod type oom kickers are adjustable in the mast groove; with a nice 4 part boom vang you ould have a solid boom that wouldn't need a topping lift. Most likely you could have better sail-shape n a beam reach and a run. Also in light air the boom kicker would relax any ownward tension (weight of the boom) to give the sails a smooth shape. (?)
