I have a copy of the movie "Riddle of the Sands". It is beautifully photographed, and while they did change the story some, they didn't harm it. The opening scene with Carruthers (Michale York) at his club, bored out of his skull when he gets the letter from Davies always gets me in the mood to enjoy the rest of the movie. When they show scenes of Davies singlehanding his Dulcebella (a converted 37 ft lifeboat) in the shallow Freisian waters, I get very envious. Needless to say, I like the movie, but I like the book even more. I read Shadow of the Sands, and enjoyed it, but liked the Riddle of the Sands better. If you haven't read Riddle first, Shadow will be a bit confusing. John Miss T M17 #372
