any tips on the best way to get 5200 sealant all in between the keel and the hull? 5200 is forever; don't use it. Use a polysulfide or a polyurethane that will come apart in the future if necessary. I'm no expert on fin keel boats, but I suspect the "right" way to do this job is to remove the fin completely. Is it just paint that's peeling off the entire overhead in the cabin? If it's peeling, it's paint. Should I just sand and re-stain the handrails or should I try replacing them? Those handrails look pretty good to me. If you don't like the natural gray, gently clean them with a mixture of bleach and TSP, or a mild acid product, and then give them a very light sand. Finish with oil, sealer, Cetol, varnish, etc. You might want to remove and rebed them in the process. If the deck/cockpit leaves white marks on my hands, can I just polish the gel coat it does it need further care? If it's chalking, you probably need to wet sand and then polish. I just moved to Ventura County today (from Dallas) and brought my fixed keel M17 hull #14. I'm gonna clean her up and get her into a slip as soon as I can. Last (for now), once I get Griselda into a slip, does anyone in Southern California need a trailer designed for a fixed keel trailer sailor? I'd like to keep it but don't have any room.
