Mine is set up with a cunningham, and I had it kinda loose. I could also set up a downhaul instead. There is a spot on the gooseneck, and a fitting on the mast that would do it. Since it was the maiden voyage, and I was filming and sailing at the same time, trim was not the best! I notice in my video that at times I am pinching and luffing the main just a bit. Oh, well. But the boat pointed really well. Where I sail you have to beat to windward to get back, so I am used to it. This boat got back much faster than my old Vagabond. Pointed well. My outhaul has little space, but can be tensioned beyond where I tensioned it. Plus, my sail is not loose footed, so there is only so much play down there! I also don't have a boom vang at the moment. I will remedy that at some point. But she does point well despite older sails and all that you mention. Thanks for sharing your video, It has me all pumped up about getting my M 15 from Stan Froseth soon. I do have questions for you and the gallery here. I noticed that you did not tension the main sail down haul taught enough for up wind sailing? Is there a down haul on the M15 or did you not have enough purchase to get the wrinkles off the mast luff? Additionally and maybe it was the point of sail you were on it seemed like the outhaul did not have much room to be tensioned. I guess the general question comes into play about sail trim, I know what we like about the M 15 is its simplicity but surely a flatter main sail would assist in going to weather and pointing higher. I really thank you all for the sail trim input and just can't wait to see for myself how to trim this boat up and what she does in all kinds of wind. Thanks Smiley
